O Palmeiral
Restaurant, bar and terrace in Príncipe Real, Lisbon. Inside a grocery shop first opened in 1870.
Home cooking from local suppliers and independent partners. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a terrace for aperitivo in the afternoon. Everyone is welcome — private dining and parties for groups up to 40.

The Terrace and the Bar
Twenty-one seats on the terrace, facing the street where Príncipe Real meets São Bento. The afternoon light arrives around three and stays until it doesn't. Inside, the bar runs the length of the room — Negronis, Aperol Spritz, a finger of fizz, or a glass of whatever's open. Cocktails from the short list. Wine by the glass. A Crodino if you're driving.
The esplanada is open whenever the restaurant is. No reservations needed for a drink.
The Kitchen
Home cooking. Suppliers are local — the market, the fishmonger, the farms we know. Dishes are made here, not assembled. The menu changes with the season and the day: tortellini in brodo when it's cold, octopus salad when it's not, parmigiana always.
The kitchen operates almost exclusively gluten-free. Breakfast from Wednesday to Saturday, lunch and dinner from Tuesday. See the menu.
Príncipe Real
O Palmeiral sits on Travessa de São José, a quiet street just off Praça das Flores — five minutes from Bairro Alto, ten from Chiado, three from the Jardim do Príncipe Real. The building has been here since 1870. The neighbourhood has changed around it several times. The door is still in the same place.
